Community Services Consortium’s Weatherization Training Center works to raise community awareness about home energy efficiency and conservation and to bring training and certification opportunities to individuals.
Our Weatherization Training Center provides educational, skill-based training by certified trainers to the public, local technicians and contractors. We train unemployed or underemployed youth, ages 18 to 24, who are enrolled in our federal workforce program; we train current weatherization professionals and unemployed or underemployed contractors and dislocated workers.
The facility accommodates 24 students, who use the latest weatherization and diagnostic tools in a variety of simulated home environments. As part of CSC’s Weatherization Assistance Program, the Center provides a unique field element to training: As part of their training, our students help individuals and families in our communities winterize their homes.
While our primary mission is to bring energy efficiency and weatherization-related training to the people we serve in our area, CSC’s Weatherization Training Center is also equipped with portable training tools that allow us to provide hands-on, quality training to more remote areas. We have provided off-site training in Newport, Roseburg, and Astoria.
In addition, the Center also serves as a facility to bring other trainings to the Mid-Willamette Valley. We have hosted a range of trainings. Our CSC Weatherization staff pride themselves on excellence and have taught and hosted trainings in Weatherization for over 450 students since our first class of graduates in October, 2009.
