What We Do

On a mission to build stronger and more resilient communities, we offer programs and services that speak to a wide variety of interests for youth, adults, and the whole family. While all of our education and employment services can stand alone, we weave programs together based on individual needs to provide wrap-around services that lead to long-term success.

STEP

WHO: Anyone receiving SNAP (food stamps) benefits
WHERE: Benton, Lincoln, Linn & Polk Counties

STEP, or the SNAP Training and Employment Program, is offered across the state and CSC is just one of many contractors. This flexible program offers support and assistance where you need it, including career readiness and exploration, skill and experience building, GED, degrees, certificates and more!

We offer an array of programs and services to meet the needs of our community members that are looking for employment or wanting to expand their skills to widen their opportunities. We have staff satellite-located at the WorkSource centers below to assist with career coaching and exploration, educational goals, trade certificates and more. WIOA Scholarships

WHO: All of working age
WHERE: Polk & Linn Counties

As part of our WorkSource partnership, we offer a vocational scholarship funded under the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA). Award of these funds is based on availability and eligibility. The maximum for the award is $5000. Scholarship money can be used for tuition, fees, and required books and supplies.

Youth Build

Youth Build

WHO: Youth and young adults
WHERE: Linn & Benton Counties (primarily Linn)

Part of a nationwide program, CSC YouthBuild helps young adults that have experienced barriers in their educational and employment path work toward their GED or high school diplomas while learning job skills by building affordable and sustainable housing in their communities and preparing for post-secondary success.

Youth Garden

WHO: Youth and Young Adults
WHERE: Benton County (in Corvallis)

As an extension of our Youth House programs, the Youth Garden engages youth and young adults in active market gardening, culinary demonstrations and food distribution. This paid work experience provides hands-on work skill development for future employment success!

Polk County Youth Programs from CSC

Youth House

WHO: Youth and Young Adults
WHERE: Benton County (in Corvallis)

Attached to our Youth Garden, we offer a variety of youth programs out of the Youth House. Clients work closely with our staff to access resources and get help with career planning and exploration, educational goals and GED prep, learning life skills and so much more!

WHO: 14 – 21 Year Olds
WHERE: Independence, Polk County

This innovative program re-engages youth in educational goals and career exploration in a self-led, hands-on environment. Incorporating a MakerSpace, community garden, GED prep, work experience, and more, participants build skills today and stability for the future.

JOBS

WHO: TANF recipients
WHERE: Benton, Lincoln & Linn Counties

This program for TANF recipients offers support and assistance where you need it, including career readiness and exploration, housing and homeless prevention, GED, degrees/certificates and more. Clients work closely and often with their CSC Advocate to help set and achieve goals.

Intergen

WHO: Cohort of 40 enrolled families
WHERE: Benton, Lincoln & Linn Counties

Not currently enrolling new clients.

This unique program allows families to work together to achieve goals focused on safety, time management, routines, resources and more. Staff guide and encourage families through the program, but the goals and timelines determined by each family member.

Unemployment in Oregon

Unemployment insurance benefits are intended to replace part of your lost income. Unemployment can be filed online via the unemployment portal, or over the phone. Find your call center, here. You will use the same process to file your weekly claims, check the status of your claim, update your information, etc.

If you are unsure whether you will qualify for unemployment, it’s always best to just apply! Feel free to come into your local WorkSource Oregon center to have someone assist you with your unemployment, and let you know of all the resources available to support you.
