Governor Declares October 30 Weatherization Day in Oregon

Governor Tina Kotek has officially proclaimed October 30, 2026, as Weatherization Day in Oregon, recognizing the vital role weatherization programs play in improving home safety, reducing energy costs, and helping Oregonians stay healthy and comfortable in their homes.

The proclamation coincides with National Weatherization Day and the 50th anniversary of the federal Weatherization Assistance Program, which has helped households across the country lower energy costs and improve energy efficiency.

At CSC, we see the impact of weatherization every day. Energy-efficient homes are more comfortable, more affordable to maintain, and better equipped to withstand extreme weather. For households already facing financial pressures, reducing energy costs can make a meaningful difference in monthly budgets.

Through our Weatherization program, CSC helps eligible households access energy improvements that can include insulation, air sealing, heating system repair or replacement, and other energy-saving measures. These upgrades help families, older adults, and individuals with disabilities live in safer, healthier homes while lowering energy use.

In 2025, CSC invested $2.1 million in energy-related home improvements and provided weatherization and no-heat services to 93 households across Linn, Benton, and Lincoln counties.

Weatherization Day is also an opportunity to recognize the dedicated staff, contractors, and partners who make this work possible. Their expertise helps ensure local households can access improvements that increase comfort, reduce energy waste, and support long-term housing stability.

As we join communities across Oregon in celebrating Weatherization Day, we are proud to be part of a network working to make homes safer, healthier, and more energy efficient for everyone.
